Well now, this changes our view of things…quite drastically.
At Square-Enix's special private party event last month – the oddly-named DKS3713 showcase – most Final Fantasy fans were desperately hoping for the official announcement that a sequel to or remake of Final Fantasy VII was in the works. Sadly, that announcement never came, and the biggest news of the event centered on the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo that would come with the Blu-Ray release of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" in March of next year. So some of you were all disappointed and said, "oh, yippee," with a very sarcastic tone of voice. Yes, we know what you wanted, and that wasn't it. But are you aware how long this FFXIII playable demo is supposed to be…?
Clearly not, because if you were, you'd stop being sarcastic and suddenly become very excited. Yeah, some demos in the past (like the Heavenly Sword demo that clocked in at under 10 minutes) have been exceedingly short, but this demo most certainly won't be. As a frame of reference "Advent Children" is 101 minutes long, but the demo, which will come on a separate disc, is reported to be longer than the movie! The latest Famitsu has supposedly confirmed this, and furthermore, we learn that the demo will "be based on the opening section of the game," unlike the FFXII demo that came with Dragon Quest VIII . If that's not incentive to pick up the "Advent Children" Blu-Ray Collection, than absolutely nothing is. You just ain't a FF fan.
Now, all of a sudden, we want to hear a great deal more about that demo, and we're salivating at the thought of playing two hours worth of FFXIII in March!
