Original Story:
Last week, several sources supposedly leaked a portion of the track list we'll receive with Rock Band 2 . We have no confirmation or denial from Harmonix on this issue, but they did issue a denial on another subject: the subject of a faulty report from IGN that GameSpot later picked up.
According to the story, all songs from the original Rock Band plus all downloadable songs and content for the game would be compatible with the sequel that is scheduled to arrive later this year. Therefore, music fans were salivating at the idea of snagging the 80 songs set to be included in RB2 along with everything they already had with RB1. But unfortunately, as Joystiq has clarified, a Harmonix representative has confirmed this story isn't true, so don't drool yourself to death based on false information. On the good side of things, 80 songs is nothing to sneeze at, and you can be certain that more will arrive in the form of downloadable content in the future. The most recent report stated that over 10 million Rock Band song downloads have taken place since the game released in late 2007.
And besides, that leaked list (linked above) might actually be true, too. Harmonix made no mention of that…
