We've already heard about the LucasArts layoffs, but the publisher assured the gaming public that this wouldn't affect their video game development. However, the latest rumor says their biggest title of the year, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed , may be facing some tough times ahead.
According to GamerChip, those LucasArts layoffs included members of the Force Unleashed development team, as a former employee has said several other members have been "released from their contracts before the title had wrapped up." He said he also believes there simply isn't enough manpower left to finish up the project, which would be bad news for "Star Wars" fans. GamerChip speculates LucasArts may outsource to get the remaining bits done, but that's not exactly good news, either. Of course, without any official word on this, we're going to treat it as nothing more than a rumor…let's hope the game stays on track.
As of now, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed holds a September 16 release date, and we've received no word of a delay. But there's no doubt there are a few issues over at LucasArts, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see them have a negative impact…
