This Friday, EA's DICE studio releases their highly anticipated shooter, Battlefield: Bad Company , which is already dragging down some high scores and general praise from critics. EA must be expecting something good to come of this game (financially speaking), because they have now confirmed that they're working on a total of five Battlefield titles.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, executive producer at DICE, Ben Cousens, made the confirmation today at the game developer's conference in Paris. Bad Company is counted as one of the five, certainly, and we already know about EA's free-to-play Battlefield Heroes , but we know nothing about the other three. Rumors and speculation abound, but the popular theory says that at least one is another standard multiplatform game while the fourth will be under the recent Neowiz deal, which means it'll be for Korea. As for the fifth…who knows?
"Since the start of this year I've been working as executive producer for the entire Battlefield franchise – we've got five titles in development at the moment, which is probably more than you expect," said Cousens.
Well, yeah, it is. But if Bad Company is as good as everyone says so far, then we're not disappointed at all. In fact, this could end up becoming one of the better next-gen franchises out there, so stay tuned for more, shooter fans.
