It's one of the longest-running and most popular racing series in video game history, so it's no surprise to anyone to learn that EA is planning another Need for Speed . The last effort, Need for Speed ProStreet , was great, and it helped to restore some of the franchise's lost glory. The next, however, should fully harness the power of the new generation, and we're excited to learn more about it.
According to European game site JeuxFrance, EA has revealed Need for Speed Undercover , which is slated to arrive some time next year. We don't know the targeted platforms, but…well, it's EA; it'll probably be available on every major platform. Details are few and far between right now, but JeuxFrance tells us the game will be based around the style of the film, "The Transporter." This probably means we'll be delivering something from Point A to Point B, desperately attempting to avoid the authorities. It sounds like there might be a bit of Hot Pursuit in this one, but we imagine there's a lot more to Undercover . NFS now has a worthy competitor in the Burnout series, and we're hoping EA can step up and deliver another solid title next year.
As soon as we hear more about this new Need for Speed , we'll be sure to let you know. Perhaps it will pop up at next month's E3; the timing seems just about right.
