Payton: Avoid MGS4 Forum Threads For Next 7 Days

Not only is it one of the biggest releases of the year, but it has also become embroiled in much controversy as of late. EGM has recently claimed that Konami asked them to avoid "certain technical aspects" of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (i.e., load times, cut-scene length, etc.), and other sources are saying that the early MGS4 reviews from EDGE and Eurogamer weren't "real." Essentially, they were saying those reviewers only had an early build of the game, and not the final version.

So yeah, there's lots to talk about regarding MGS4. But according to the game's assistant producer, Ryan Payton, more info is going to pop up today. He showed up in the NeoGAF forums and warned Internet surfers to avoid MGS4 threads in forums today because he "guarantees" we'll start seeing details that "will ruin some of the MGS4 experience." …why? What's so special about today? Do stores have retail copies already, despite the launch still being set for June 12? Did Konami send out the review copies to critics? We don't have ours, but Payton didn't say this for nothing, so now he has piqued our curiosity. We certainly don't want to see any spoilers – and we would never put any up as news – but we're hoping Payton elaborates on his warning.

Perhaps as the day goes on, we'll learn more about his mysterious statement, which has prompted much speculation already. We just wanna know why we should "unplug" for a week lest we learn something about the game's plot we don't want to know yet…
