Consoles are new territory for real-time strategy titles, but they are in the process of making the transition. Well, except for one, evidently.
We had heard whispers that the PlayStation 3 version of Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 might be delayed or even flat-out canceled, and now it seems we have more evidence to support the latter. Firstly, according to PSU, EA has said they "can't speak of the PS3 version," and then, they learned that GameStop has removed the game listing from their database. Up until now, Red Alert 3 was definitely on the retailer's "coming soon" list, and unfortunately, it has mysteriously disappeared. Now, we don't know if this means the PS3 version has been canceled or just delayed indefinitely, but either way, it isn't good news for RTS fans. We'll still get other strategy titles in the future, but the easily recognizable name of Command & Conquer could've helped the genre reach a whole new generation of gamers.
Hopefully, we'll be able to clarify the status of the game within the next couple of days. But for now, we strongly suggest you not hold your breath…this particular PS3 title could be dead and gone.
