We have more evidence that the long-awaited in-game XMB will arrive with firmware update 2.40 for the PlayStation 3.
Dutch gaming website PlayStation Only cites their own Sony source that claims update 2.40 will be available on June 18. Multiple sources have listed a June 10 release, but PS Only says that's incorrect. Furthermore, and more importantly, they do say that the in-game XMB is "confirmed" for this firmware update, and while it isn't official, they also say that Trophies are "likely." This may be the update many PS3 owners have been waiting for ever since the system's launch. Several details concerning the XMB have been crisscrossing the Internet, and the idea of implementing soundtracks directly into our games is very cool. Of course, Sony hasn't issued any press releases or announcements about update 2.40, but if it's going to release on June 18, we expect to see something shortly.
Actually, a good place to check on this stuff is the official PlayStation blog, where we've seen some of the earliest info for past firmware updates. In the meantime, we're anxiously anticipating that XMB and the Trophies…who isn't?
along the lines of xmb and trophies, are they going to associate points as well. like on the 360 or just leave it as trophies?
maybe sony will make it like on x360.
btw i hope the In-game xmb can do many things. like allowing us to download something or updating FW while playing game. and other multitaskting
Oh wow…dl'ing options in-game would be very cool!!!
i doubt it would be able to do that, one assumes that u would be able to go to settings to probaly connect headset etc, contacts where u can talk to ur friends n leave messages and if were really lucky, play music while in game,
this would be great to finally have an in-game XMB, be good to be able to add players while ur in game too to your friends list as waiting to get back to the main XMB you either forgot who you wanted to add or have to search through a long list of "Players Recently Met in Game" thingy (or whatever its called) so it would be great to have this! 😀
