Okay, seriously…what's the deal?
By now, we're well aware of how cinematic-heavy the Metal Gear Solid series has been in the past, and given the amount of space Konami and Kojima used for MGS4, we know the fourth will carry on that tradition. Most fans won't complain, though, considering the insane level of quality we can always expect.
However, there have been some very interesting rumors going around regarding the length of the cut-scenes in this fourth installment. Some sources have been claiming that a few could be as long as 90 minutes in length – which still seems ridiculous to us – and the story now goes deeper. The MTV Multiplayer blog is reporting that Konami representatives are actually asking print reviewers to "keep some of the technical details out of their reviews." To be specific, they're talking about the length of those cut-scenes and the amount of space required on the HDD for the game's installation. But not long ago, Kotaku showed off a photo of the MGS4 box, clearly portraying 4.6GB of "minimum space required." And more than a few sources have backed up the 90-minute cut-scene claim.
Lastly, the new Eurogamer review for MGS4 talks about both these topics, so no matter what Konami said, that information is getting out there. Are they thinking these details could be viewed as negative…?
