LittleBigPlanet Closed Beta Drops This Summer

While everyone is still upset about the delay of Home, and having to wait until Fall for a public beta, let's not forget about the game that was unveiled along with Home: LittleBigPlanet . This engaging, cooperative-based platformer hasn't fallen off our radar, and thanks to a recent G4 interview with SCEA's Kyle Schubel, we now have some very good news.

Schubel confirmed that LBP would be headed to the PS3 this summer in the form of a closed beta, which may be a bittersweet announcement. After all, with a closed beta, this means that most PS3 owners won't get a chance to see the game until its official release this fall. However, we're hoping the beta will provide crucial feedback to Media Molecule in their efforts to hone and refine the final product, and we're sure to hear about the beta even if it's closed. We're also wondering how much user customization will be allowed in the beta, remember, LBP allows players to create their own levels. Will we be able to test that out in the beta? It'd be great to experiment and toy around with that mechanic, even if it is only in the early phases.

LittleBigPlanet is guaranteed to be a major release for the PS3 this year, and this beta is more proof that, at the very least, the game is on track. More news on the beta proceedings as they become available.
