Sony Responds To Slow Icon Loading On New PlayStation Store

The brand new PlayStation Store is up and running, and most early impressions have been very favorable. We like it, too, and everything seems to be working at 100% capacity…well, with the possible exception of icon loading.

It seems that several users – perhaps only located in Europe – have been experiencing slow or no loading of Store icons, which is a small blemish on the performance of the new-look Store. However, according to a recent post by Lestrade in the official European PlayStation message boards, Sony is aware of the problem:

"We are aware that many of you have experienced delays whilst the PS Store's thumbnail icons are being downloaded. This is a temporary consequence of a new system implementation and high global traffic levels, and will be resolved within the next few days.

Thank you for your patience and continued support!"

We're not sure if American users are experiencing this problem, but if you are, we assume SCEA is aware of it. You shouldn't be surprised to learn that Sony is keeping a careful eye on the Store immediately following the launch; after all, if any significant problems occur, it happens soon after the upgrade. As for this icon issue, we imagine it's not going to last much longer.
