It's our favorite rumor, primarily because Final Fantasy VII is one of our favorite games of all time. But after our hopes were dashed for the umpteenth time late last year when Square-Enix never got around to announcing a FFVII remake for the PS3, we basically stopped hoping. We thought all the evidence was pointing in that direction, but it just never happened.
However, 1Up is bringing this rumor back once again, and again , we're feeling that old familiar thrill of excited anticipation. It may not mean a thing, but in a recent 1Up interview conducted with Square-Enix's Hajime Tabata, he said something mighty interesting. Here's the question and answer that has resurrected the FFVII PS3 remake speculation:
1UP: Does Crisis Core mark the finale for the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series?
Hajime Tabata: No, it does not. The Compilation's finale will take some other form.
Hmm… We thought Square-Enix had already announced all the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII " titles a long time ago. Heck, all of them are already here, in fact ( Dirge of Cerberus , Advent Children , Crisis Core ), so what could Tabata be talking about? There's another title in this celebratory series that has yet to be revealed? Could it be…? We hate to get our hopes up yet again for something so small, but the bottom line is that Square-Enix does have another game to announce. And this game is in the FFVII universe. Damn, we can't help ourselves!
