NPD Feb 08: PlayStation 3 Outsells Xbox 360 Again, More

February 2008's NPD results mark yet another triumphant month for Sony, as the PlayStation 3 has once again outsold the Xbox 360! This marks the second month in a row that the PlayStation 3 has done this. Additionally, this means that the PS3 is outselling the Xbx 360 in all three crucial regions (North America, Europe, and Japan). Sony's PS3 outsold the X360 by a total of 25k consoles in February.

But, the next-gen war isn't the highlight of this madness. It is the PlayStation 2 that we should all be looking at, as it sold an astonishing 352k systems! That's absolutely absurd for a console that is eight years old. The Nintendo Wii continues to move like no tomorrow, with 432k systems purchased last month. The PlayStation Portable is selling decent figures, with 243k, but it cannot reach the greatness of Nintendo's DS, which was purchased by 588k!

All we know is that things are looking extremely bright for Sony. With a Spring catalog of games that rivals some of the best Holiday line-ups of the past, the PlayStation 3 is about to make some crazy waves soon. And the withdrawal of HD-DVD surely made an impact for the PS3, as it makes Blu-ray the winner of the HD format war, ultimately helping sales of the PS3.

Nintendo DS 587.6K

Nintendo Wii 432K

Sony PS2 351.8K

Sony PS3 280.8K

Xbox 360 254.6K

Sony PSP 243.1K
