Arnold-KatayevA story pertaining to development issues with Dark Sector has cropped up on Ripten earlier today. Ripten spoke to Digital Extremes Producer, Josh Austin, during a demonstration of Dark Sector, and were informed that the PlayStation 3 version had undergone troubles in development. Upon booting up the PS3 version of the game, Austin stated:
“So, yeah, this is the PS3 version, umm… it looks just as good as the 360 version, which we’re very happy about. Towards the end we started having some serious conversations about what we were gonna do, uh, but we ended up pulling it off, so we’re very proud of that.”
The folks at Ripten asked for clarification, to which Austin replied: “It was just not running as well as the 360 [version].″ The conversation would then progress into off the record territory, so the rest of it couldn't be documented. But Ripten's headline states that the game was almost canceled for the PS3.
Now, the quotes published don't really suggest anything about canceling the game, but we weren't there to discuss the matter at hand, and perhaps Ripten knows something we don't. Now my question is, are Digital Extremes just saying that the PS3 version runs just fine, or will there be apparent differences, making the PS3 game inferior? I ask this because we've heard this kind of story many times before, and the PS3 version ends up coming out not as promised. I guess we shall wait and see. That said, the game's various delays do make more sense now. Look for Dark Sector to launch March 25th.

all multi-platform games should be equal, but i also think that companies should learn to use the ps3 to its potential, i mean come on now its been over a year since it's been out and some companies even take the time to do the ps3 versions first to make sure its good so why shouldnt the ps3 version run better?
i admit this game looks pretty fun i just hope it runs 60frames or im gunna have to pass
Sounds like another crappy port!All I have to say is it don't pay to port.Just ask THQ how well their conan title went over.
Well, atleast people are starting to go from PS3 -> 360, because that's definitly doing alot better than the other way around. Some fine examples have already come out as proof of that! But yeah…i'll be waiting for some reviews and comparisons before I fork out $60 on a game that'll later be traded for maybe $20 if I trade it in fast…thanks to the rip offs at gamestop, atleast theres amazon or something….hmm I wonder if theres some sort of video game trading community…instead of selling,trade game for game, and so forth? That'd be sweet! Googling it!

I think effort should be put in to make each game the very best it can be on each machine and I don't get the impression that is what we are seeing.
