Though Sony is pushing Blu-Ray harder than ever, the company's Phil Harrison let slip to Wired Magazine that he would be "'amazed' if PS3 has a disc drive."
It's not quite the end of Sony's bread-winning new format, though, as Harrison seems to be simply implying a greater focus on electronic distribution in the future – something that every company (throughout the entertainmnet industry) is no doubt looking at. Even six or seven years into the future, it would still be a pain in the ass to download a full capacity Blu-Ray game.
So, don't fret – Blu-Ray is going to stick around, just expect everybody and their mother to be hyping e-distribution by the time the next generation rolls around.
