Over the past few months, we've seen more rumors than we can count. Most of these rumors revolve around Sony and the PS3, and in case you're one of those living-under-a-rock gamers and didn't already know, here's a quick rundown- Rumor 1: Sony will release a "lower-spec" PS3 (possibly a 40GB PS3) later on this month, and it will retail for $399. Rumor 2: Sony will drop the price of the 80GB PS3. Rumor 3: A new PS3 model – perhaps the 40GB – will arrive on October 30; it will come with the "Spider-Man 3" Blu-Ray movie (which also launches on October 30).
Yes, the rumors are certainly running rampant. But some, if not all, of these rumors might be cleared up very soon. According to Engadget, Sony has scheduled their "Big Bang" press conference for October 12, which is where many expect Sony to announce the new PS3 model, and potential holiday bundles. That FCC filing has to mean something , and not every single analyst could be wrong about Sony offering a cheaper option, so…maybe it'll happen. Heck, they may even announce that Grand Theft Auto IV is a timed exclusive and will arrive just in time for this new PS3 model. Could there be any more rumors?
Whatever happens at this "Big Bang" might be enough to make up for that lackluster Tokyo Game Show keynote address, where we heard next to nothing in terms of big news. Why they chose to wait until afterwards and have their own conference is beyond us, but we still can't wait to hear what it is. Let the speculation and debate begin! But please, for the love of God, keep the rumors to a bare minimum, for once. We're dying, here.
