New Sony president Kaz Hirai will be presenting the opening keynote at this year's TGS, and it seems they're waiting to unveil all the big announcements at that time. Sony's pre-TGS presentation has already happened, but no announcements were made; it was merely a showcase of upcoming 2007 – and some 2008 – titles.
However, attendees did get a chance to see some new content for most of the games ondisplay, and even a few new revealings. For example, while it wasn't exactly shocking to see Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction on display (stay tuned for our hands-on preview this week), Sony did surprise us with Secret Agent Clank for the PSP. They also showed off a couple new levels from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune , and Folklore , Hot Shots Golf 5 , NBA 08 , Wipeout HD , LittleBigPlanet , Lair , and Gran Turismo HD Concept were all included in the presentation.
Notably absent was Level 5's anticipated RPG, White Knight Story , which we had hoped to hear more about at TGS. But perhaps we'll get that news in due time… For the interactive side of things, journalists got a chance to play some Unreal Tournament 3 and others stepped up to sample the very original PS3 puzzler, LocoRoco Cocoreccho! . More than a few PSN titles popped up as well: Everyday Shooter , Pain , PixelJunk Racers , Go! Sports Ski , and an expansion to flOw . It certainly seems like a goodly variety of games were on display, but there wasn't much in the way of "new."
…which is why we really can't wait to hear Hirai's keynote address. Don't go too far, though; you won't have long to wait: the Sony president's address is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, but that translates to later on tonight for those of us in the U.S. But don't worry, we're not gonna stop working- we'll be sure to provide up-to-the-minute details!
