Well, some rumors just have to die eventually. But then again, we're certain even this kind of clarification won't completely kill the Bioshock on PS3 rumor.
Joystiq spoke to the game's lead designer, Ken Levine, and in addition to confirming some much-needed patches for the somewhat buggy PC version, he also said there would be no PS3 version. This atmospheric FPS that resembles a cross between the old System Shock titles and Deus Ex is one of the highest reviewed games of the year, so this news is disappointing to PS3 owners. Levine's exact quote is as follows-
"I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft … that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."
You can't get much clearer than that. Multiple sources have been hinting at the possibility of a PS3 version for quite some time now, but when the game's lead designer says "no way," we should probably listen. But remember, nothing is impossible…and the more speculation there is, the more the rumor will endure. For now, though, Bioshock PS3 appears to be a no-go.
