Mafia 2 Revealed, Made Official

Last week we told you we heard rumblings of Mafia 2 making an appearance sometime soon, after someone discovered the ESRB had rated a trailer for the game. Well today, we can confirm that Mafia 2 does, indeed, exist. Take-Two/2K Games have issued an official press release announcing the all new sequel to the original that sold two-million worldwide. We were unsure of the platforms, but the game will be developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC (Games for Windows).

“As the original Mafia was a big success, we are excited to leverage the power of next generation console technology to create an all-new experience, while embracing the elements that resonated with the previous game’s fans,” said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. “The ‘wow’ factor of Mafia 2 is definitely the benchmark-setting visual quality and action that you expect to see only in Hollywood movies.”

Mafia 2 will again be set in a mob riddled underworld of the late 40s/early 50s. Take-Two promises a cinematic Hollywood experience, with terrific story, character development, and a breathing city. "High octane gameplay with white knuckle driving" is yet another touted feature. No set date has been placed for Mafia 2. Look out for the screenshots later tonight to see Mafia 2 in action.
