Capcom: Devil May Cry 4 Playable At Leipzig

Not every huge game of 2007 will be on display at this month's Leipzig Games Convention, but at least the first great title of 2008 will- Capcom has announced that Devil May Cry 4 will make an appearance at the event, and will be showcased on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 (no PC version).

Attendees will be able to pick up and play as Nero, the new main character in the series, and they'll get a chance to experience the "new and unique gameplay mechanic." Nero is similar to Dante, but he has his own arsenal; the Devil Bringer Arm will be your weapon of choice, and this will allow you to deliver blistering combos, one right after the other. While avid followers of the franchise may miss Dante, make no mistake: DMC4 – and Nero – will still kick plenty of ass.

“Devil May Cry is one of Capcom’s key brands," commented Michael Pattison, Senior Marketing Director, CE Europe, “and Leipzig Games Convention provides an excellent opportunity for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers to get hands on experience of the latest addition in the series that defines stylish action.”

Dante may have been Sparda's son, but Nero is no slouch. He's a knight in the Order of Maken, an ancient sect that worships Sparda (the devil warrior that fought for mankind), and he's immediately at odds with the cocky Dante. Dante initially shows up and starts leveling some of Nero's fellow worshipers, and that doesn't sit well with the knight. However, both characters will soon find that perhaps a bigger evil lurks nearby, and it overrides their petty little squabble. You'll be fighting your way through Fortuna in an effort to destroy said evil, and Nero is one fully competent fighter. Dante? Well, maybe he's just along for the ride; we're not entirely sure.

Devil May Cry 4 is currently scheduled for a January 2008 release, and we'll get another early taste at Leipzig. We'll try to secure any video or trailer shown at the convention, too, so stay tuned!
