Lair Officially Delayed Until September 4

Well, so much for final confirmations.

The last we heard from Sony regarding Lair was a simple announcement : everything was on track, and the game was confirmed for an August 14 release date in North America. But apparently, there was one little snag that nobody, not even Sony, foresaw.

According to the most recent post by SCEA associate producer Ryan Hamlyn over at the official PlayStation blog, Lair has been delayed due to "an extra step in QA testing to enhance the community features of the game." Hamlyn goes on to say the new release date is September 4 and elaborated further:

"Natural challenges that arose while finalizing the offline game to include key online features – such as leaderboards and medal systems – have led to the difficult choice of pushing back the release date. We appreciate everyone’s excitement and patience for the game…"

Okay, so wait- does this mean all the review scores we've been seeing from gaming magazines are just fake? Or are their review copies simply inferior to the retail copies that will ultimately hit store shelves in September? This confuses us, but at least we know the real deal regarding the delay, and we'll keep you apprised of any future developments.
