A lot of people think Grand Theft Auto III is actually the first GTA.
That's not really a surprise, though, considering the drastic difference between the first two titles and GTAIII. The first two were top-down cops 'n robbers-type adventures, while the third was full-on 3D open-world.
If you never had the pleasure of those retro experiences, you're missing out. Perhaps you'll get a chance to play 'em next week: According to The Games Cabin , both Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 have been recently rated by PEGI, the European game rating board. There's also a PlayStation 3 release date of May 5 for both titles. Sweet, huh?
There was just something about those old games…I almost wish they'd make another GTA with the top-down perspective. With modern tech, I think it could be really cool!

A lot of people are pretty dumb if when they read the title 'Grand Theft Auto 3' and think it's the first game in the series.
I wonder how many people think Final Fantasy VII was also the first game in the FF series.
Them roman numerals can be tricky!

Some people think MGS on ps1 is the first metal gear game…
Those people wouldn't be dumb because there's no numbers in that title.
Star Wars though. Now there's a pickle. There's a series with enough gumption to start their movie saga on episode IV.
Dumb people in 1977 in that case would be right by their own stupidity while smart people would be wasting time asking questions.
