Police Officer Tragically Killed In A Philly GameStop Shootout

We'd rather not start your week off with a tragedy but the news is rarely pretty.

Sadly, a Philadelphia police officer was killed during a shootout in an attempted robbery at a GameStop store.

According to an NBC Philadelphia report (via Polygon ), officer Robert Wilson III died while attempting to buy a gift for his 8-year-old son, a reward for good school performance. He was at a GameStop doing a routine security check and he figured he'd get a present then. Unfortunately, two armed men entered the store with the idea of robbing it and a firefight ensued.

Wilson, only 30, was shot multiple times at close range and killed by a shot to the head. Said Philadelphia Police Homicide Capt. Darrell Clark:

"The officer was a hero and a warrior–he fought until the very, very end–firing at both of them."

The suspects were soon caught and are charged with first-degree murder, along with the attempted murder of Wilson's partner, Damien Stephenson. Both suspects have been arrested in the past and one was out on parole.

If you're interested, a trust fund has been set up for Wilson's family.

Yep, there goes our money feeding murderers and rapist 🙁
In a planet with 7 billion people you would think the death penalty would be applied more regularly…

Yeah, the revolving door that is our spectacular failure of a justice system strikes again, and the only result is that WE have to pay for the perpetrators' lives.

"Yay" is right.

That's senseless man. Two sons now without their father. How are the boys going to feel about their hobby and the industry now.

Must be tough for a while to think about his passing whenever videogames come up.

Man, I was thinking the same. The kid put its effort in getting good grades, dad tries to buy him a price and gets killed… dude, this world is so fucked up.

I Really hope this kid never finds out his dad was at the store buying a gift for him, if it was me I would feel guilty

I am puzzled that you guys over there isn't fighting harder for a more restrictive weapon policy in your country.
The killing stats are raging high over any other western society, I just don't get it. One have to go to countries governed by drug lords and criminal organisations to find worse statistics.

I was about to ask the same thing, Beam. How the heck does someone on PAROLE have such easy access to the kind of weapon that would work well in a fire fight?

What would we do to protect our freedoms when the liberal media, democrats, scientists, homos, Negroes, non-Christians and so on came knocking on our doors!????
You know the world was created 10,000 years ago, global warming is a big lie create by the rest of the world to stop America's dominance…
The worse thing is that everytime there is a school shooting the gun makers make a killing(pun intended), Faux News spreads its "they are trying to take our constitutional rights" hype machine and gun people run to Walmart to load up on ammunition.
This so bizarre, especially from a country that landed a man on the moon…

Sadly because of how long guns have been made available in the States I don't see how it's possible to stop those that shouldn't have guns from having them. These two monsters most likely got their guns illegally.

I think a step in the right direction would be reducing the amount of people in prison for non-violent offenses and increasing the prison stay for people like this. It's infuriating to read about people like this killing someone then finding out they had served a rather short time in prison/jail for a prior violent offense.

I don't own a gun nor am I in favor of my country's current view on gun ownership.

I live in Mexico, here having guns is penalized and is not so easy to have one; even with those restrictions people is being murdered every day.

I don't know guys, at least you can have a way to defend your family and yourself if someone threaten you.

Mexico isn't exactly the least corrupt place in the world. You know you have issues when foreigners are advised against leaving the Mexico City airport on a layover…

If you want to compare like that, look at Canada. We have legalized guns for civilians here, you know. The difference is our crazy nut jobs can only get super outdated guns, kill a single unarmed soldier standing guard at a cenataph, then run into our government building only to be unable to shoot anyone else, but get taken out by a Sylvester Stallone diving 75 year old ex-cop. Had he had a semi-auto or fully-automatic modern weapon…. would have been a different story.
