The PlayStation brand was barely a few years old. Role-playing fans had games like Suikoden and Beyond the Beyond , but that was about it.
Final Fantasy VII hadn't exploded onto the scene yet and out came Wild ARMs . For fans of the genre, it was quite the experience.
The series tailed off during the last generation and now, old-school followers are wondering if the IP is dead. Short answer: Nope. During a live Sony broadcast at the Tokaigi Japan Games Party 2015, Kentaro Motomura read a message from Wild ARMs producer Akifumi Kaneko, and it said the "fire has not been extinguished." Motomura added:
"I understand that a new game has been expected for a while. We haven’t said 'Wild Arms is finished,' because we have no intention to quit. We want to bring it back in some way, eventually. If possible, I’d like to make an announcement as soon as the opportunity arises, so I hope you can be patient."
I loved the original and I had a blast with the next two entries as well. I sort of lost interest after that but I wasn't the only one. It'd be very interesting to see what they'd do with a new sequel…oh, they'd probably just take the gun concept and run with that in a real-time, button-mashing capacity. Yay.
Always keep up hope. Look at Xcom, sure it eventually got a mediocre shooter made from it, but only after the brilliant turn-based strategy return it deserved.
I doubt it, after so long, no way they're bringing it back.
Unless the Japanese market demands it, no way.
I like this news!
I wasn't an early PS adopter so I missed it. Was it turn based?
Yes, like most RPGs in those days.
Too bad you missed these games…the original especially was awesome and the second was almost as good (despite what reviews said).
Gotta share what just came to me:
"Wild ArMs Isn't Finished," Too bad we can't say the same about Final Fantasy.
oooo badum ching.
well it sounds like it was a good game but i'd need to see it action to make my assessment
happy gaming
