Ben-DutkaFor the time being, Sony's streaming service known as PlayStation Now is available in beta form on various PlayStation units and Bravia TVs.
But Sony has always promised that Now would expand beyond Sony's sphere and in 2015, that's going to happen. Sony has announced that it will make PlayStation Now available on third-party devices next year, and it begins with Samsung Smart TVs.
Sony and Samsung's partnership involves "select" Smart TVs and Now will be available to consumers through an app that can be downloaded via the Samsung Smart Hub. And don't worry, Sony promises that these Smart TVs will provide users with "all functionality of the service" and that includes playing online, earning Trophies, and saving progress to the cloud. You will need a DualShock 4 controller, though.
Said Sony boss Masayasu Ito:
"Since we first introduced PlayStation Now at CES 2014, our vision has been to open the world of PlayStation to the masses by offering the service on the devices they use every day. Partnering with Samsung is a key step toward realizing this vision, as we can reach a broader audience of consumers who may not own a PlayStation console to show them why gaming with PlayStation is such a unique and amazing experience."
Now is available for testing on PS4, PS3, Vita and Bravia TVs.
That's why Samsung is the best.
If I was in the market for a new TV I would go for Samsung again.
Now if only they could make the pricing reasonable or give it an optional subscription.
nah, I still prefer the Sony Bravia for televisions just because mainly I'm a big Sony fan.. ^_^
This shouldn't come as a big surprise as Gaikai had penned a deal with Samsung, to bring the streaming game play service to Samsung's TV's, prior to the service being acquired by Sony in 2012.
yeah um i can't say i'm not a bit surprise i was a bit taken by it but maybe it could be good for sony and playstation
