PlayStation Now currently only offers PS3 games.
But that could change in the near future. According to what Sony Entertainment Network vice-president Eric Lempel told Game Informer , Sony intends to expand beyond the PS3 platform:
"In our plans going forward we’re looking at everything so there’s the real possibility that you’ll see PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 4 titles available. Right now it’s just PlayStation 3, but these are all options for the future."
Lempel added that Sony is examining possible changes concerning the price model. User feedback hasn't been entirely positive on this score; don't forget that rental prices can run as high as $49.99, which is insane . You also can't access digital titles you previously purchased on the PSN, which is another problem. However, there are some rentals that go as low as $1.99 and hopefully, we'll see more of those in the future.
It'd be very cool to have games from all the PlayStation generations available, too.
would be nice to just be able to buy the games now…
i think the main thing is realiablilty and priceing thats gunna put people off.
happy gaming
I hope this thing fails.
Because if PS Now succeeds. Then the PS5 will be a software service, not a console.
Which would suck huge nuts for a lot of people, including me. With my poor little internet connection.
I don't do rentals. I like to own games. Problem is the even downloading games from the PS Store, they're not future proof. Just look at the PSP recently. Now that the PSN has been shut down for the PSP I wont be able to get my PS1 games off the store onto there. Which in all honesty doesn't bother me but I have bought many downloads on my PS3 (Mostly PS1 games on sale that we never got released in the UK or are just so expensive to get a physical copy of). To lose all them downloads in the future would be a real back hand. So if I can ever buy a game physically I will. Problem is now, when you get game with DLC all that content isn't future proof so I usually have to buy a DLC ('Game of the Year' Edition years later when they're cheap.
Any more news on that rumour a while back of the PS4 playing physical PS1 & PS2 discs in time? I'm not getting hopeful but I would certainly welcome it.
