Raiden IV: Overkill Confirmed For 2015, Supports A Stick

In the world of arcade shooters, Raiden is iconic.

And if you're a fan of the hectic, vertically scrolling shooter, you'll be happy to know that a new installment from Japanese developer MOSS is headed exclusively to the PlayStation 3 (via PSN) next year.

Raiden IV: Overkill will boast a new "stick compatibility patch" so true arcade enthusiasts can enjoy the game as it was originally meant to be enjoyed. And as detailed over at the PlayStation Blog , you can expect to "die countless times as you learn the patterns of your enemies." Oh yeah, that causes the memories to come rushing back!

In the game's Overkill mode, some defeated enemies will linger on the screen in a slow crashing animation. Continuing to demolish these foes charges an Overkill meter and the higher the meter goes, the more a medal dropped by a vanquished ship will be worth. Survival is the name of the game, so I hope you've got fast reflexes and a lot of patience.

Remember when basically all video games were like this?
