We know Rise of the Tomb Raider is the next installment in the legendary franchise.
But did you know that Lara will also get her own book? Set to release from DK Publishing and penned by Dan Abnett and Nik Vincent, "Tomb Raider: The Ten Thousand Immortals" will be on store shelves in October, if you're interested.
The story takes place immediately following 2013's successful Tomb Raider reboot, and protagonist Lara must cope with the aftermath of her ordeal on Yamatai. Furthermore, she must attempt to save her best friend Sam from some sort of "toxic overdose," which Lara hopes to cure with an ancient artifact. That artifact, by the way, could help to explain the strange, supernatural events she witnessed on Yamatai.
And of course, as is the case with all valuable relics, Lara won't be the only individual seeking this particular artifact. She'll have to fend off a "nefarious magnate, a shadow society, and lethal henchmen." Sounds more like Uncharted with every passing word, doesn't it? Or, wait…wasn't Tomb Raider basically the original Uncharted ?
I'm hoping for a Linux port of this game.
Feral Interactive, who did the Mac port of Lara Croft recently did an *excellent* port of Xcom Enemy Unknown as their first Linux port.
This not be a game but a book,i'm assuming you're on about the reboot or its sequel,in which i'd advise you not to bother…not a tomb raider game…uncharted wanna be more like…

Yeah I know this is about the book, my comment were slightly off topic.
And since I never was a big fan of the old Tomb Raider games chances are that I'll like the reboot. Not that I am an Uncharted fan either – far from it – but at least here we got an attractive female protagonist. 🙂

Temjin and I agree, Tomb Raider's gameplay is better than Uncharted. There's just more to it, more well rounded things going on, upgrades, survival stuff etc.
Yeah I've heard so from others too, David. I think this may be one linear experience I might like. 🙂
Uncharted doesn't have a leveling system or upgrade system as Tomb Raider does, so I don't think it's fair to say one is better than the other; Uncharted's is just more simple, not that there's anything wrong with that. I thought Uncharted's movement felt more "sluggish" and human than Tomb Raider's (Lara was insanely fast and agile), not that an average everyday man can do what either of these two folks do.

Beam you can backtrack so its not too linear 4 ya. Masszt3r the whole idea about a 21 year old archaeology student being able to upgrade handguns and shotguns is f**cki*g terrible…."hey i'll just make some explosive tipped arrows and hope i don't blow my hands off"….yeah sure.
It's a game not a life simulator.
So many people expect realism now, not sure why though. I fear the day hyper realistic games become the only types of games. They have their place but dont force it into every style of gaming otherwise you will kill that style .
No thanks the reboot was a load of cack. Not at one point were my gaming skills even remotely tested.Plus lara was an annoying c**t!
Damn Carlos you be harsh mun!
World a blind one armed 3 year old could finish the reboot with little trouble.Survival? after the 1st cutscene you don't have to hunt for meat again which is LAME.I could keep on ranting but its not worth the time it would take to type.I will say that TR did one up uncharted with the back tracking feature which i did like!
I don't mind easy games, I like to get through the story and have fun. I kept hunting, it's just something that's up to you and good for points and trophies. A lot of optional content to raid and upgrades that actually shape the way you play are good stuff.
the only animals i killed at 1st were wolves as they attacked me,then when i realized that dead animals meant salvage so upgrading became an exercise in omnicide….kill every animal on the island why don't ya

I was never a fan of the original games and this isn't my typical genre, but the reboot intrigued me from the start. When I got the free copy through Plus, I decided to give it a try and was pretty impressed. Definitely worth giving it a try to anyone who hasn't done so (even if you're not a fan of the genre).
I never cross my reading and gaming hobbies. Though way back in high school I did read some Doom books.
I wish I could say I read as much as I game… :/
Me too, it's just time consuming. Gaming is easier to sit down and pick up and put down on the spot.
I need to be on a holiday to be able to read. Away from all distractions and the hectic everyday life.
But man do I treasure those moments.
