When July rolls around, it's time to add to your growing games collection.
As announced in late May, each new month will come with six free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers; two each for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Vita.
In July, PS4 owners can grab Towerfall: Ascension and Strider , and if you've still got the PS3, you can download Dead Space 3 and Vessel for free. The two Vita titles are Doki-Doki Universe and Muramasa Rebirth . However, bear in mind that the latter game will only be available for free in North America; European Plus owners will get the option of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes .
If anyone asks why I'm a Plus member, my answer is simple: Freebies. They're just fun.
Dang, no use for those.
"I wants it. And I'm a smart gamer who knows that with so few PS4 games available Sony is going to have to put this one up for free eventually, thus I will not buy it." -you
Don't mean to come across as creepy, but I was re-reading the Strider review, and this comment of yours was first in the comment section. Did you not like the demo?
Oh wow, I didn't see Strider was in there. Breezed through the article. Guess I was right, again.
Dead Space 3 sounds like the only thing decent they've given out for a while
Debatable.
hey, since like November they've dished out stuff like this for me
Bioshock Infinite
Tomb Raider
DmC
Grid 2 (awesomeness)
Street Fighter X Tekken (Vita)
Batman Arkham City
Puppeteer
soon to be Strider
Trine 2
Metro Last Light
Binary Domain
Resogun
Dragon's Dogma
Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed (Vita)
Borderlands 2
yah, not too shabby so far for the $30 I spent on it.

This is as "free" as a rental car. After all, we never have to buy those cars!

If rental cars were available for a low monthly fee, and included unlimited gas and mileage for as long as you continue to pay that monthly fee, then you're right. This is as 'free' as a rental car.
I've long maintained a certain view on games: If I can an hour of playtime per dollar spent then that's good value. By that definition, Plus is an extraordinary bargain. Between Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider and Contrast the service has paid for itself. I prefer games on disc that I can actually hold and actually own but if I can get 100+ hours of entertainment for $50 then I'm not going to complain!
I'm just saying it's not free.
It's no more free than it is to pay a membership fee to access VIP lounges at airports. Sure, you can drink as much soda and eat as much fruit as you like in there, but it's still not free. You pay for that access, each and every month.

You're right, it isn't free. You're essentially paying for a very good video game rental service that let's you play the downloaded games an unlimited number of times for as long as you remain a member. The Instant Game Collection is a PS Plus benefit, so it only makes sense to have that benefit removed if you're no longer a Plus member.

I am free. Under the laws of the US.
I would rather have lego batman 2 than anything else on that list and I don't get it. bummer. still love my plus, like all the perks.
Strider. Booya!
tower and strider what!?
see, this is why i canceled my plus subscription all were getting is crappy little indie games no one has ever heard of!
Strider is an amazing game.
didnt say it wasnt, i havent played it so i cant say.
point is im sick of $ony fluffing plus with games no one has ever heard of!
its like going to the easter show and coke puts up the price of their show bag but justifies it because it comes with extra candy crap from a company no one has heard of and no one trusts.
no matter how good and nice it is, its unknown so no one trusts it.
when + came to ps3, hell even to vita, $ony offered straight away some of the biggest titles for those platforms!
multiple of the vitas biggest best games were offered for free through plus within a few months of them launching!
ps4 well………..
why isent knack a plus title?
dont think it met the rating requirements, but still that would be a perfect exception.
or the TR remake for ps4, or hell ANYTHING but constant indie games after indie games after indie games after indie games!
seems like a bit of a f*ck you to loyal fans who took the leap of faith and bought the ps4 on launch.
ok it hasnt been out for long, same for the games, but that did not stop the vita so why should it stop the ps4?
$ony needs to stop with the indie, indie, indie, indie, indie every single god dam month if they want to keep their plus subscribers!

I… would gladly accept that candy…
Glad for this news. Was about to purchase Muramasa after trying it for the first time yesterday. Metroidvania style RPG, sign me up.
Plus is a wonderful investment IF you have the time. Frankly, I play Friday, Saturday & Sunday so I don't see why I would pay $50 for a bunch of a free games that I would probably never finish.
Hey guys, can anyone confirm that from now on all we are getting are 3 free games for each platform per month?
I remember seeing many games available for the PS3 before, but now all I see are 3 games…
Did Sony just completely changed their police? is this going to be the limit from now on?
I was about to sign in as a PSN + member but this just made me reconsider it…
Thanks!
It is still a good bargain, specially with all the plus sales that they have. It has been cut down to two a month. They will disappear at the beginning of next month and will no longer have the universal plus games. Those have disappeared as well and will no longer be replaced.
WOW such a drastic cut!
I had posted on here before that I kind of expected this move from Sony, it was too good a deal to continue as it was, no way it was profitable to them.
But I don't see the value anymore, I don't have a PS4 or Vita, The PS3 games are not enough to convince me to jump on it, just in the hopes that once every 3 month a game I actually want to play shows up.
Thanks, for the reply!
That's part of my personal worries about PS Plus that I've been trying to alarm the community to.
Yes Wold, I also noted your comments back then.
I guess it was the only way they had to lure people into it, but now that your are forced to have a PSN+ subscription, they can cheap out on the games…
Too bad I did not get in earlier this year, missed out on some amazing almost-free AAA games. I'm sure is all downhill from now on.
It's like paying for a buffet that brings out additional food options for no extra cost.
The amount of games they were giving for free was unsustainable anyway. PS3's library is pretty robust but they are definitely trying to shift the install base to PS4. If they get you hooked on PS Plus (like they did me) then the quasi-need for PS Plus on the PS4 is not an issue. They also realize they can't get us on PS4 and cut off the free games.
I am VERY interested to see if in 12-24 months the PS4 "free" games are at the level of games they gave in these past 6-9 months with PS3 (BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Arkham City, Tomb Raider, Dragon's Dogma, Kingdoms of Amular, LBP Karting, Demon Souls … to name a few). Those are some heavy hitters. I'd like a game like that a month or every other month at least!
