Nice to know, but will we see it at E3?
It started with some rumors from a couple Russian game journalists, and then made the rounds on the Internet (check IGN , for instance). However, Sony has been quick to shoot this down.
SCEA software product development boss Scott Rohde clarified on Twitter :
" @yosp[Shuhei Yoshida, SCE president of worldwide studio] Sony Worldwide president] and I laughed at this rumor over dinner. The Last Guardian has NOT been cancelled. "
Rohde was the one who confirmed that Guardian was still in development back in March, although he refused to announce the intended platform(s) or any other details. As for the most recent comment, the interesting part – from a psychological viewpoint – is that he said they had a good laugh over this. I can't quite put my finger on why, but that sounds like a hint to me. It almost sounds like they laughed because a big unveiling is just around the corner…
I could be wrong, of course, but I hope I'm not.
Related Game(s): The Last Guardian
It's time to put up, or shut up about this game.
Amen to that.
It's been half a damn decade since its reveal. I really hope we see it tomorrow night. I'm sick of growing older waiting for it.
Couldn't careless. Its no Final Fantasy Versus 13.
And thank God for that.
If there is no news at E3 I say they should just cancel the project. Time is money…
They think that sh*t's funny? People aren't amused!
I'm more inclined to think it won't show up now, otherwise it would have been better to let the rumor fester until E3 then surprise people.
Admittedly my enthusiasm for the game has dwindled considerably and is no longer an anticipated game for me. Maybe it will be a surprise in the future, who knows.
Keep playing!
They definitely should've went with it and surprised us on E3.
As long as I know it's still in development, I'm happy. To me, The Last Guardian is the only major game in development that we know about that is capable of truly showing what gaming is capable of in terms of emotional engagement. Ico and SotC proved that Team ICO can do it, and I KNOW that they will blow everyone away once again with TLG. So I will happily wait as long as it takes, because if TLG is cancelled, I will be fully prepared to give up on gaming.
It staggers the imagination to consider how much money this game's development has flushed down the toilet every time they had to go back to the drawing board.
it might make an e3 appearance.
god, talk about clutching at straws!
$ony arent exactly doing themselves any favours with this.
its been in development for so long, with so many big names including studio japans lead creator udea leaving, $ony really needs to either put their money where their mouth is and show it off, or come out and admit yea its been canned.
just get the feeling that they just dont want to say that for whatever reason.
no one is going to believe its still in development till we see a live gameplay demonstration, and even then people are going to make up conspiracy theories!
been in development since at least 2005, this is fast approaching DNF territory!
japanese sure are the kings of taking forever to produce nothing!
totally forgot about this game and R* angent hopefully we hear about both soon
As others have said, they need to either be serious and give the developers a deadline to get the damn thing done (it's been almost 10 years, more than enough time) or pull the plug for good. And until they make that decision we need to all shut up about it and focus on games that will actually see the light of day in our lifetime.
For a moment, I thought it would be cancelled and re-announced as Final Fantasy XVI.
well at least some top dudes have said it hasn't right thats gotta be worth something.
happy gaming =)
