Two things:
One: Bring "Reading Rainbow" back to PBS now .
Two: Make this Kickstarter project happen!
Actor LeVar Burton would like to bring his new "Reading Rainbow" Kickstarter project to a bunch of new platforms, and that includes PlayStation and Xbox platforms. For this to happen, funding needs to hit $5 million.
For now, the campaign is just shy of $3 million with 67,294 backers and we've got until July 2 to hit the $5 million goal. At this point, it seems more than feasible. Originally, this project was going to be a web app only, but Burton wanted to make it "accessible to more kids and families," so he's trying to expand to more platforms. That $5 million stretch goal also includes mobile devices, along with boxes like AppleTV, Roku, and Kindle Fire TV.
Bring it to "every child, everywhere;" that's what Burton wants. The service will feature an "unlimited library" of books and video field trips, and he's calling on people who grew up with the show to contribute. Sadly, the long-running TV show went off the air in 2009…wasn't that just after the mobile explosion? Gee, what a coincidence. 'rolling eyes'
Haven't read to much into this. But if I can see old episodes I might drop some money in the project. My favorite episode was when Lavar visited the make up effects artist.
I remember this, and of course Jordi LaForge
Remember that Star Trek: TNG ep when Geordi got turned into that blue alien? That was freaky.
musta missed that one
I have always wondered why there have never been more educational software on consoles. I hope this happens and I hope it opens the door for more like this. If properly done it could become a lucrative venture for whoever produces a successful product.
I will be donating to this. They got the 1st million in 24hrs and that was just there initial goal.
Lol for $5mil couldn't we kick start a campaign to make jordis visor a reality lol
Everyone loved that special effects make up episode!
