It was a good day for Take-Two Interactive and developer Rockstar Games.
Take-Two announced a record annual profit despite a down fourth quarter, and the publisher also revealed that they had shipped 33 million copies of the uber-popular Grand Theft Auto V . They didn't give us an exact sales number, but we do know the game generated over $1 billion in its first three days alone.
For the most recent quarter, Take-Two posted a revenue of only $233.2 million, down from the $303.1 million they raked in last year. Profit fell to $21.5 million, way down compared to last year's $42.9 million. However, digital content really helped, as this category jumped 51 percent to $122.3 million, and catalog sales comprised $75.7 million in the quarter. Top performers were titles in the GTA, NBA 2K and Borderlands franchises.
The full year take was big: Revenue soared to $2.414 billion, up a whopping 97 percent from the $1.222 billion earned last year. Profit rose dramatically to $510.7 million (as opposed to the $33.1 million they earned last year), and that revenue is a new record for the company. One guess as to why that number is so freakin' high.
Yep, not a bad time to be part of the Take-Two world.

33 million copies? That's nuts. I'd argue not wholly deserved, but not far off. Good on Take-Two; it's kinda sad that no matter what they do this year, they're not going to be able to outstrip that, but so it goes. I'm just curious about what it is that R* is supposed to be releasing before the end of this fiscal year. Pulling for a new-gen Midnight Club, but I'd be happy with Agent.
OMG YES.
well good on them i guess
happy gaming =)
more importantly they confirmed they have another game set to release this FY year!
ooooooo, so hope it will be announced at E3!
maybe were FINALLY going to see something on agent?
So, time to release that GTA5 for PC and PS4 now, damnit! Man how long must I wait?
I've been waiting for the PS4 release too brother
not far from what i remember predicting around its release…. crazy thing if it lands on next gen it could see 7 million copies easy. dont think next gen needs it… rather time spent for next GTA that will utilize next gen specs… we see what the future hold.
New RDR give it to me NOW!
