Well, there's good news and bad news.
The good news is that the rumor was true: 2K Games has officially announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel , which is scheduled to launch this fall. The bad news? It's not coming to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
No next-gen consoles but hey, it's Borderlands . It'll definitely be worth playing, right? The game is set on Pandora's Moon and takes place between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2 . A younger Handsome Jack guides you through the game, and you play as one of his four lieutenants: Athena The Gladiator, Wilhelm The Enforcer, Nisha The Lawbringer, or Claptrap. …it'll be interesting to see how Claptrap controls and fights.
And of course, we've got the randomized loot that can result in a gazillion unique weapons. Then there's a new Cryo effect that lets you freeze your enemies in place, plus new laser weaponry that comes in various shapes and sizes. Oz Packs are another cool addition; they supply oxygen when roaming about the moon, and they also work as a jetpack. Why do I get the feeling that there might be a lot of bouncing going on, ala Halo ?
The primary developer is actually 2K Australia; Gearbox Software is only assisting. As for why it's not coming to next-gen platforms; well, maybe it's just a spin-off. Anyway, here's the debut trailer:

I can't wait for this. The environment looks like it will be great. It would be cool if it was on next gen platforms, but I don't mind playing on the ps3 for this series.
I'm willing to bet a good amount of money the reason it's only released for the same platforms as the earlier Borderlands is cause they just slap a new story on the old code with minimal coding involved.
You have to admit the gameplay is addictive.
Oh indeed. Fantastic coop franchise. I'm a big fan.
Makes more sense that they release it to the older consoles as they have a larger install base, as compared to the next gen ones. More users = more money.
Sold.
Awesome. Can't wait. Guess I'll be putting the DS4 down for awhile Wheb this releases.
Still a stupid name.
You would probably have to play the games to understand this name is fitting in that its not serious at all. In the confines of the games personality a name like this fits well. It's meant to be light hearted and not taken seriously.
I could see the Multiplayer in this one being all kinds of fun, even though it does look like it's taking a page from Halo and Titanfall..But still, I love this series, although this is just another reason to hold off buying the PS4, which is not what I was looking for…
……….. sold
quite obvious why this is not coming to next gens systems, would require too much work.
2 face said so himself, theres not enough of a profit chance to make it worth the costs.
perfect example of why this industry is heading down the sh*tter!
screw our customers, screw whats better for the industry, the only thing that matters is our back pocket!
