Critically Acclaimed Gone Home Coming To Consoles In 2014

One of the best indie games available is soon coming to consoles.

The widely acclaimed title from The Fullbright Company, Gone Home , released last summer for PC, Mac and Linux platforms. Now, Majesco Entertainment's indie publishing branch Midnight City will deliver the revered game to consoles .

The only problem is that we don't know which consoles, exactly. Midnight City would only say on Twitter :

"Nothing specific yet. We'll be sure to let everyone know when we can."

We do know it'll be available this fall, and we also know it'll be a fantastic addition to the library of any new platform. Hopefully, it comes to at least one of the PlayStation consoles because personally, I think PlayStation fans would most appreciate this type of thoughtful interactive entertainment.

I strongly suggest everyone pick this up when it comes to the PS4. Such an interesting game and it's hard to explain why it's so great without ruining the experience.

Think oldschool, like The 7th Guest. It's a 1st person mystery adventure game with an awesome sense of immersion. There were times I forgot I was playing a game.

I remember being overawed by those games back in the day. 11th Hour!

And consoles and PCs merge further.

This one greatly underwhelmed me. My fiancee is really the PC gamer of us, and she recommended this to me. Perhaps I just went in with the wrong expectations, but the (all-too-brief) experience left me cold.
Still, hopefully PlayStation users get to check it out for themselves.

Besides the shortness of it what didn't you like? (without revealing anything to those that haven't played it)

I went into it knowing it wasn't going to be a long experience and loved every minute.

No Spoilers:
I love story-fueled games, which is why I believe it was recommended to me, and I started out loving the mystery of the plot. But as it continued, my interest waned as the revelations became increasingly banal. By the end, I was really just left with a sense of "That's it?"
Also, the protagonist was a missed opportunity, I think, because it could have been almost any old person we're controlling. We're supposed to have a deep connection with these people and only in a few of the game's moments did I get that.
I just didn't think it was a very good story, and in a story-based game, that's paramount.

Fair enough. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much but it reminded me of older games from a forgotten era of gaming. I'll never forget playing The Journeyman Project on my brand new Packard bell.

Did you ever play the Syberia series? I think those games are fantastic.

I had heard of it, but actually my fiancee got me to play that one too. And I quite loved it. But I was especially grateful that she already had 'Syberia II', as the first game's ending was not a proper one, in my opinion.

Really, maybe I've just been away from PC gaming for too long. Aside from 'The Witcher' and a few others, I haven't played much on the PC since the days of 'Starcraft', 'Planescape Torment' and 'Deus Ex.'

I hope this portends a trend of all these great indie PC games I keep reading about coming to PS4. Sony has promised it's going to be a VERY indie-friendly machine, which makes me extraordinarily happy! Shocked at quality of smaller teams all the time. Housemarque, JuiceBox, etc. are killing it already, let's get some more on PSN. I wanna see some kickstarted games too, like Banner Saga…
