It's almost time to hand out more illustrious awards.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the nominations for the 2014 award ceremony. A total of 43 games have been acknowledged across 17 categories.
Naughty Dog's masterful The Last Of Us leads the way with 10 nominations, including Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Action & Adventure, Game Design, Music, Story and Best Game. Grand Theft Auto V is only a step behind with 9 nominations in the Action & Adventure, Audio Achievement, Game Design, Game Innovation, and Multiplayer categories. It's also nice to see the Vita gem Tearaway landing 8 nominations.
Five games nabbed 4 nominations: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag , Bioshock Infinite , Super Mario 3D Word and The Stanley Parable . Other titles with multiple nominations include Beyond: Two Souls , Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons , Tomb Raider , Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch , Battlefield 4 and The Room 2 .
The BAFTAs will be held on Wednesday, March 12 at the Tobacco Dock, London, and they'll be hosted for the sixth consecutive year by popular comedian and gamer Dara O'Brian. There's always a worthy list of nominees from BAFTA, and it's amazing how often it mirrors our own annual awards …
I think I'll just wait for the PS4 version of The Last of Us to be released to buy my copy. I have a good feeling it'll be released in the summer.
GTA V deserves every award it receives
How does Brokenfield 4 get nominated for anything?
Dara O'Briain is hilarious, he has some really funny bits on gaming and I'd recommend you tubing him if anyone has some extra time on their hands.
I'm glad that a major awards academy includes gaming, it's as much of an art as film and television and including it in these awards helps it get recognized as such.
yeah definately some great games in there.
happy gaming =)
