Lightning Returns Gets A “Lightning” Debut At Retailer GAME

Well, that's clever. The clock is ticking in the game, and it's ticking the first time the game hits store shelves, too.

Square Enix has announced an interesting promotion for the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII . Basically, you've got a limited amount of time to grab the latest series installment one day early.

The anticipated title is scheduled to launch in PAL territories on February 14. However, for just one hour on February 13, multiple GAME locations throughout the UK will put the game on sale. The fun starts at 13:00 (that's 1 p.m., right?) and the main celebrations will be held at the GAME in Hamleys of Regent Street. That's where attendees will have the chance to win some prizes, and Square Enix teases "special guests." This fits the game's premise, where the heroine must save the world in less than 13 days.

Participating GAME stores will sell the title as long as supplies last, or until the hour runs out, whichever comes first.

Said GAME director Charlotte Knight:

"We’re thrilled to be part of such a unique event. We pride ourselves on bringing the best opportunities to our community throughout the UK – with the chance to get the game at this exclusive one off event, as well as the many prizes on offer, this is not one to be missed."

So, if you're near one of these locations and you're excited to grab Lightning Returns , show up a day early at the appointed time! Check the participating locations here .

Yeah they want to sell as many copies as they can before the reviews hit.

I'm wondering if it will contain a previously on FF for those that don't want to bother with the first two games in the series.

It wouldn't make any sense even if they did.

What started to suck now sucks even more. Okay, go!"

I just don't get it. I don't understand how you go from FFXII to this. I imagine years from now there will be a documentary detailing SE's fall from grace and a majority of it will be about XIII.

HAHAHAHAHAHA I won't be getting this till it's $20 or under.

I already threw $150 at this series. SE isn't going to trick me a third time.

I bought FFXIII and was thoroughly unimpressed with it. Didn't bother with XIII-2 and won't be getting this one.

I honestly can't even remember the name of the final boss in XIII, that's how little I thought of it as a FF entry.

I own the collectors edition of XIII-2 and it just sits there and collects dust. I didn't even rip the included OST, I just downloaded the torrent of it.

I remember somebody named Barthadalus but not why I had to kill him or if he was the final boss.

I might replay XIII someday if I'm in the mood for something pretty… It was at least that.

Each entry after that seems to get worse graphically. That's weird.

News flash. I know this is kinda off topic but I was doing a search for Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 when I found an article on Gamepur that I found really upsetting and discouraging. It has the first reviews for Castlevania LOS 2, FFXIII-3, and Donkey Kong Tropical freeze from GameInformer. They gave Castlevania a 6! a 6! FFXIII-3 a 7 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze a 9.5!
So I had to confirm that this was true. Turns out people were getting it from GameInformers digital March issue. I went ahead and bought it to confirm these outrageous and highly unbalanced scores are indeed true! Words cannot describe what I'm feeling right now… However I read the review for Castlevania LOS 2 and it was short, contradicting, biased, and plain dumb! I need to know what Ben and co. think so heres the link. http://www.gamepur.com/news/13575-first-castlevania-lords-shadow-2-and-donkey-kong-country-tropical-freeze-re.html Sorry I'm not using a computer so it has to be copy/paste,etc.

Well, Gamepur isn't exactly an established source for reviews. Don't put too much stock in it.

Hooray, now those 5 people planning on paying full price for this game can get it early, how lucky for them.

I played the demo and while I thought it was an interesting way to do a hack n slash, it was definitely not anything like the first one or the demo for the second one.

I still plan on getting 2 and this one, but with about 70 games in my amazon wish list, they are not high on my priority list.

doesnt this kinda contradict the whole point of having street dates?
gives them a unfair advantage over all the other stores.
hell would never fly here, stores would say f*ck it if they can sell it now so can we!
lost count the amount of times EBs broken street date, hell the recent tomb raider definitive edition ended up releasing 3 days early!

Just shows how desperate they are to sell that game .

I hope it stink so they might see that FF need to come back the way it was .

That Square is so focused on Lightning, to me, proves they are creatively bankrupt.
