Minecraft Dominates Digital Sales On PS3

It took some extra time for the uber-popular Minecraft to come to the PlayStation 3.

But when it did, it lit up the sales charts. They've revealed the top digital sellers for the PS3 and PS4 in December , and Minecraft was tops on the PS3. Anyone surprised?

In fact, it was #1 on both the PS3 and PS3 Add-On lists, as the Festive Skin Pack landed at #1 on the latter list. The Walking Dead: Season 2 – Episode 1 came in at the number two slot, while Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty: Ghosts also performed well. For the PS4, Ghosts was atop the sales list with Digital Upgrades, while Battlefield 4 was #1 on the sales list Without Digital Upgrades. It's also nice to see Flower in the top 5 on both; it was one of the most relaxing, innovative titles of the last generation in our estimation.

In other digital sales areas, Terraria and Tearaway were numbers one and two respectively on the Vita, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas topped the Classic list. Metal Gear Solid was runner-up.

gotta say minecraft is THE most overrated thing in the history of the universe!
i mean im all for games which let you create things, but this is just so simplistic and boring!
amazing how the simplest most basic things are always the most successful.
what does that say about the world?
soccer moms eat your heart out!

This may be the second post you've made on this site that actually makes sense.

(We all know you're a special breed of Australian nutter, :P.)

I've watched numerous YouTube videos of people trolling in Minecraft, and I must say that game looks totally pointless except to make such videos of screwing with other people that are just playing it "for enjoyment".

JROD0823, it is completely impossible to judge this game based on videos. Flat out. It can't be done. It just is.
Now I'm not saying that you necessarily would like it, but this game is *the* example of a game that just have to be played to be understood.

I played it, didn't like it, uninstalled it (the demo). This game is simply too abstract and boring for me and it's one I thought I would LOVE.

I have to completely agree…I dont know if its because it looks like it should have been on NES, or because their characters look like those Block Heads from Gumby. I just dont like it, but my brother and son love it.

I still don't get the attraction towards Minecraft. A number of friends have played it on the PC for the last 3 years and I have watched them. I tried it out to see what the attraction was amd it lasted only a few forced hours and boredom set it like a 16 ton weight.

Could be an age thing. With the experience of growing up with vid games since the 70's. Of course it might just that it feels nostalgic in some way and that may not appeal to me.

I get that you need to invest time in it, but I guess I am unwilling to. I have more thrill playing with my Star Wars LEGO sets. Wait… did I say that out loud? :/

Regardless, there is a massive fanbase and glad its doing well on the PS3. Without a variety of games or sims to suit the tastes of people… things would get stale quickly.

Keep playing and enjoy!

@_____________ you actually have a point there
Cod simplest shooter game most popular
Pokemon simplest RPG most popular and outsells FF
and then Minecraft which is extremly simple and has millions playing it

i cant take minecraft seriously when people talk about it

I'd play it if I was young and still had time to create amazing things.

I guess I understand where you're coming from. The younger you are the crazier the imagination, but you don't have to be young to create amazing things.

You don't have time? Well you dedicate a lot of time posting here because you make the time lol.

If the interest is there anyone makes time.

I love Minecraft but that's just me. Love building things and going to the Nether. It's not for everyone though.

I loved Minecraft, the only problem is I already put hundreds of hours into the PC version I just can't bring myself to start anything, but my boy….he's never been more in love with a game.
