After their recent announcement of a restructure followed a rumor regarding Take-Two Interactive closing down shop of 2K Games' NYC offices. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter was also quick to predict the event of closing offices, and indeed the talk is true. Next-Generation.biz was the first to publicize the news, and Take-Two has now confirmed the reports to be true. But don't take this as bad news, because Take-Two is actually just relocating the 2K offices over to the west-side so that they can be closely situated to the rest of the 2K brand.
Speaking to GameSpot, a Take-Two representative simply said: "They're just moving to the West Coast to provide more cohesiveness." As with such cases, not everyone is willing to make the move and jobs are often lost in large amounts. The same goes for 2K Games, with some staff being let go, and a lot quitting on their own for not wanting to partake with the move.
Take-Two will still have Irrational Games (Massachusetts) and Firaxis (Maryland) located on the East coast for the time being, but that can always change in the very near future. Stay posted for more info as it comes to us.
