Video Games Live Kickstarter Hits Goal, Level 3 Incoming

This means we'll get one of the absolute coolest albums in the industry's history!

Video Games Live's next album, Level 3, will be in the works, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign . 5,679 backers contributed $285,081, which is ahead of the original $250,000 target.

The recording and distribution of Level 3 should be appreciated by all core gamers, as we'll hear exclusive arrangements from games like Shadow of the Colossus , Journey , Silent Hill , Dota 2 , Assassin's Creed and more. Said VGL founder and renowned game composer Tommy Tallarico:

"I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a bit emotional yesterday when we finally achieved our goal. It's been such a honor for me over the past decade to help give video game music and the entire video game industry the artistic recognition it deserves. Many people told me it was going to be impossible to do a campaign of this magnitude. Many people said it couldn't be done and we weren't going to make it. But we all got together and made it happen!"

Level 3 will be recorded in studio with a 72-piece orchestra and a 60-person choir. Oh, and there's a bad-ass rock band, too. All the recordings will have been written, arranged and conducted by well-known composers in collaboration with Mass Effect and Call of Duty composer Jack Wall. The album currently holds a release date of February 18, 2014. That's fast work!

If you haven't heard VGL yet, you're totally missing out.
