Namco Bandai is really into the free-to-play model these days.
After revealing free-to-play versions of Tekken , Ace Combat and Ridge Racer , the publisher has announced a new one: Soulcalibur: Lost Swords .
As unveiled in the latest Famitsu edition (and as translated by Gematsu ), Namco Bandai is making the new F2P fighter for the PlayStation 3. We don't know exactly when it will arrive, nor can we be confident of a Western release. For the time being, we can just assume it'll be available for the PS3 in Japan some time later this year, or perhaps early-to-mid-2014.
Soul Calibur V was released for current-gen consoles last year, and it was another solid, highly entertaining combat experience. This series rarely lets us down, so Lost Swords should be good.

Word has it that this is single player only. Lame.
Not a fan of these free to play models. its just a marketing exploit. The Dead or Alive 5 F2P game would cost double the price of the retail disc if your were to buy it all. It's a con which the media shunned iOS for and now it is moving to consoles. I want no part of it.
Is this a unique Soul Calibur? or si it just a butchered version of SC5, like how Tekken Revolution was just Tekken Tag 2 with missing parts…

i'VE ENJOYED OVER 120 MATCHES OF tEKKEN rEVOLUTION. i PREFER IT TO ttt2
(sorry caps was on and I'm too lazy to go back and change it)
=p
oh, and while I was waiting for my d1p of DOA5 U to arrive from UPS, I tried the COre Fighters F2P version. It's funny how the CPU characters you fight will wear any of the costumes available for DLC. Whereas the full retail game will only make available the costumes you've unlocked (or the next available one in the unlock queue) for a given character.
yah, I waited until 9:05PM for my game to arrive. I was losing hope. BUT IT ARRIVED! muwahaha!
Oh I played Tekken Rev' and stole all the Trophies, but beyond that it is just a cheap con, I pity anyone who actually contributed money towards that…
But The Dead or Alive 5 Core Fighters demands much more money. But he biggest concern is the method of this form of distribution. Do people like their games in fragments? Heck I am hesitant about buying a game day one now in fear of a DLC edition f5 months down the line but Actually receiving an empty game and paying more for the full package – That is sickening and if this is the future of gaming, I would be willing to call it quits with the medium all together.
I hope you enjoy DoA5, its a series despite it's biased view on woman, has a cracking combat system.

V was trash, and I hope all F2P models crash and burn.
Final Fantasy Agito was just announced as a free to play, pay to live game.
Are you serious? **** Me! AND its not even on the PSP or Vita! iOS really is the downfall of gaming….
I still play Soul Calibur 5. Love the character creation. Its one of those games where my girlfriend can completely own me, and so she enjoys playing it.
Character creation is my favorite thing about the newer ones, though I didn't feel the need to keep earning new clothing and stuff like I did in part IV.
Absolutely terrible.
not keen on everything going F2P these days i'm actually get sick of it cos it just doesn't work for everything aye. only works or a some and having all ur games F2P i think is stupid.
i think there will be alot of unhappy soul calibur fans our there and i really don't know how they are going toget the model to wok for this game.
happy gaming =)
