Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will include multiplayer, of course. That's a given.
However, it will not feature naval-oriented multiplayer modes, which many fans may find disappointing. They're not the only ones who are disappointed, though: Creative director Ashraf Ismail "lost a lot of sleep" making that decision. That's what he said during a PAX Prime panel .
He said Ubisoft created multiple prototypes for naval multiplayer, and that the scope was "really huge." But it seems they just couldn't make it work correctly, and they weren't happy over losing that option. As Ismail lamented:
"It really broke my heart the day we decided to cut it from the game."
That all being said, if Black Flag does well enough, the next franchise installment may feature a naval multiplayer mode. Ismail added that history is the realm of Assassin's Creed and a futuristic entry probably isn't in the cards. Those who love the meticulously designed worlds found in past AC iterations probably appreciate that. I know I do.
No naval? How about nasal? Get them noses flexing
I know the real reason. The current generation is chaining it down. Simple like that. It's a shame 'cause it would've rocked having a fully customizable ship to sail the multiplayer seas as the royal navy or as a scurvy pirate. :/
Oh darn!
Yeah, It's there, Ubi$ost just wants you to pay for it… As is the way gaming is going..
Don't worry though, they will sell it to you later as DLC.
Now they have the excuse to have another AC next year, 🙂
As long as AC4 keeps shark hunting I'll be sold.

All games get instantly better with Sharks. See Batman? See how unlikely and cool it is that a shark was in a Batman game?

Sharknado.
I can understand why they cut it, but it still seems like a cop-out. The game is called Black Flag. It's about pirates. They should have put all of their multiplayer resources into making sure you can blow the bejeezus out of other players' ships while on the high seas. As for land-based multiplayer, just copy and paste wholesale from ACIII and rip the levels directly from the SP. With the ability to take to the water at any given time, how many people would even notice the cut corners?
Obligatory "I don't care about multiplayer" comment and… done.

If it's not too much trouble, may I ask why this got flagged?
Seems there's a mindless downvoter on the loose…
They were only forced to cut it because they are forcing annualization on this franchise.
dam that wud have epic
