Saints Row IV Tops 1 Million Sold

The Saints are bringin' in the bucks for publisher Deep Silver.

Saints Row IV has sold over 1 million copies in its first week of availability, which Deep Silver defines as a "smashing commercial success."

The PC version did especially well, selling three times as many units when compared with the PC iteration of Saints Row: The Third . In my review , I said the game suffered from a minor identity crisis and didn't feel quite as engaging as its predecessor. But it was still lots of fun and there was oodles of great content that keeps you playing.

Concerning the sales result, Deep Silver parent company Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz had this to say:

"We are incredibly happy of the reception for Saints Row IV as a critical and now a commercial success. The development team at Volition is second-to-none as a driving creative force in the entertainment industry and we are very proud to have them as part of the Deep Silver family."

The Deep Silver acquisition of the former THQ IP seems to have worked out for them. After all, they only spent $22.3 million to grab the Saints Row brand, and you have to assume they'll make that back relatively quickly.

It's the epitome of juvenile sandbox fun, what's not to get?

I think you would get it if you were younger and wanting to piss off your parents. I enjoy the series for what it is but it's best in small doses.

Lol, I suppose. Instead of playing crude games though was listening to Ribbed and White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean.

Now that's a nice investment for Deep Silver, never even heard of them before Dead Island and now they have some great properties like Saints and Metro that are making them enough money to replace THQ.

Never really played Saint's Row until I picked it up for free with my plus sub that I got in preparation for the PS4 launch. I liked it more than I thought I would, so I'm pretty excited for IV. Won't be able to get it for a while though since I spent all my disposable income on my PS4 and Knack for the time being.

Saints Row just happens to be one of my guilty pleasures. This is a game in which anything could happen. Lots of crazy, over-the-top stuff. In a video game world obsessing about realism and photo-realism, not to mention its long standing embargo on humour, more SR please. Very happy it's doing well.

and you would think, with all this success, that they would put it back into the franchise, you know make it look and feel like it actually belongs in the 21st century!
but sadly, no, you would think wrong.
please volition, for SRV can we PLEASE bring the game up to current standards technically, i mean come on IV looks and sounds like a freaking ps2 game!
and the missions, well gives the term repetitive, cut and paste level design, a whole new extreme!
its really quite disgusting that such a popular successful franchise, is still being so stingy and stagnant with getting with the times.

I played SR3 for the first time last week and I have enjoyed it so far. I'm glad this series is doing well because I'll be getting this after GTAV wears off sometime next year.
