Okay, so maybe we're grasping at straws. But we just really want this game.
After The Last Guardian showed up at E3Insider, Sony said it was "purely speculative," which unfortunately took the wind out of our sails.
However, today, a major Portugal retailer (FNAC) has given the hotly anticipated PS3 exclusive a 2013 release window (via NeoGAF ). It should be noted that while retail leaks can't always be trusted, this particular retailer leaked accurate launch estimates in the past. They got Gran Turismo 5 right and most recently, they leaked Rayman Legends for the Vita.
As the NeoGAF poster wrote:
"Just took these at the biggest retailer in Portugal, they don’t put these up on rumours. Same place I got the GT5 release date from and turned out to be correct. Says it’s coming out this year for PS3."
I know everyone is looking forward to seeing more PS4 software at E3 but I wouldn't mind if Sony closed their conference with the news that The Last Guardian was hitting this year. In some ways, I wish it was being made for the new console now. But with The Last Of Us and Beyond: Two Souls already slated for 2013, the addition of The Last Guardian would only reinforce PlayStation as the undisputed leader of top-end exclusive titles.

Hmm. I'm just not sure I buy it. Though I did think it was interesting Sony described yesterday's Last Guardian rumor as "purely speculative," and not, say, "patently false."
It would be forkin epic if TLG releases this year or early next year.
I'd KILL if Sony announced this game as a cross-generational game on PS3 and PS4. They'd move a crapload of PS4's that way.
They're having enough trouble building ONE version of the game.
What's the big deal about this game and Versus? (Serious question)
This game is being created by the same people behind Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, two brilliant PS2 games. The debut for this one was awesome and hinted at really interesting environments, gameplay and atmosphere. So who knows if we'll ever see it, but hopefully we do, and sooner than later.
Someone else would have to tell you why Versus XIII is worth getting excited about, as we've seen virtually none of it and SE's recent track record is terrible.
Versus is exciting because it is an FF from the creator of Kingdom Hearts. It features some things that have been lost in the series like a large explorable world and vehicles. It has a dark and serious setting and mood that looks unique. And personally I thought the action based battle system looked more RPG-like than the Paradigm system in XIII, even allowing you to change characters for different styles of battle gameplay.
Oh snap! E3 come sooner, please.
Patience man! It seems like they come too fast these days…
Sorry, lost interest.
This is torture… I can't wait for next week!
Why the mixed signals? If it's coming then they should announce it and be done with it.
Sony may be trying to hang onto a secret or two before this E3. I think they learned that there are certain things you want to announce beforehand so that E3 excitement for gameplay is high and there are some things you want to save to blow people out of the water. This coming E3 is a more serious showdown than usual. A re-unveiling of this game with real gameplay would knock some socks off.
I really hope it's true this time, but… we've been let down too many times now.
My daughter and I have been looking forward to this game ever since it was announced. I was worried about its rating and whether or not she'd be able to play it, but she may be old enough by the time we get it. If it is this year, she better pray its rated teen or below.
eh, if this releases this year ill eat my hat!
if this releases on ps3 this year ill eat a ton of hats!
IF its releasing this year $ony would be stupid not to have a ps4 version in the lines as well, or better yet delay it and have it as a launch window title perhaps.
the ps4 is going to need all the help it can get to convince people to put it, what stronger conviction than having one of the most anticipated, most delayed, games ever made?
oh, and made by one of the best developers ever made.
It's about time though I think this "ship has all but sailed".
