The game in question doesn't actually fall in PSXE's wheelhouse, as it's only scheduled to release on PC. But we're talking about one of the most accomplished designers in the PlayStation universe.
God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe has opted to join the advisory board as creative advisor for indie game studio Pixelbionic. He's on board to assist with the studio's first title, a vehicular combat adventure called Autoduel .
Well, considering that it sounds a lot like Twisted Metal , Pixelbionic has the right guy. The new game is described as paying homage to other classic car titles, too, such as Interstate '76 . It's supposed to "combine the high-octane thrills and spills of team-based car combat with RPG-influenced persistence and progression." Basically, we're gonna "drive to survive" in armored vehicles equipped with stuff we can scavenge from the crumbled landscape. Players can choose from over 20 cars, which are separated into three factions: Ratters, Scavengers and Techies.
Damn, did anyone else just have a vision of "Mad Max" pop into their heads? Anyway, the developer says they want to create games like this because they're "being ignored by publishers." However, as such, the project will have to rely on a crowd-funding campaign via Kickstarter, which will launch some time soon.
At least Jaffe is doing something interesting. It's not for PlayStation, unfortunately, but aren't you suddenly intrigued by Autoduel ?
