Oh, don't worry. The video game haters will find some way to spin this. Like gamers are just trying to compensate because the Boston marathon bombers were gamers, or some such ignorant crap.
But let's focus on the positive, here: Boston's fighting game community is currently hosting a 26-hour gaming marathon, held specifically to raise money for The One Fund Boston, which helps those affected by the recent terrorist attacks.
The marathon started at 8 p.m. EST tonight and will run through 10 p.m. EST Saturday night; participants will stream tournaments, speed runs and even requested games at Game Underground's retail store and arcade in Framingham, Massachusetts. Admission is $10 and all the fighting action is being streamed live via Game Underground's Twitch channel . Support the action and check it out!
Some of the games on display are Injustice: Gods Among Us , Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 , and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition . And you just gotta applaud the effort. Boston's been through a lot over the past few weeks and those affected deserve some assistance.
Great idea, stay strong Boston!
man….fighting game communities are the best…most vibrant of all…a tad rude/insensitive to some people's tastes but that comes with the territory I guess.
