Street Fighter X Tekken was a damn good fighting game. But where's the other one?
Capcom initially announced two crossover projects and while the first came out over a year ago, the other – Tekken X Street Fighter – hasn't released. In fact, nobody knows what's happening with the game.
Well, there's a good reason for that, and you may or may not want to hear it: Producer Katsuhiro Harada answered a fan query on his Twitter page , and it appears the team is reassessing the targeted platforms:
"We are changing & considering platform strategy. That's why we don't say anything."
So basically, he's saying that Tekken X Street Fighter will hit next-gen consoles, right? Could it be one of those generation-straddling titles like the already confirmed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag , Watch Dogs and Destiny ? Fighting fans could use a top-notch effort when the next era kicks off; remember that many still fondly recall getting Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for the PS2's launch. And boy, that went over well, didn't it?

I have a thought about that quote, maybe instead of staying quiet about games that have been long in development these companies should release this kind of info proactively with a positive tone and try to generate hype instead of indifference.
Well, there hasn't been an announced launch, fighting game for next gen consoles, so if this is to be one, it'd be a decent hit.
And this makes sense, because the Tekken engine uses a more realistic 3D model, as where the Street Fighter engine uses cell shade. This game can be a looker like Tekken Tag did for the PS2.
Um, that's Tekken Tag Tournament for the PS2, not Tekken Tag 2. (But it's late so I'll let it slide!) And the article is a tad misleading; Capcom did make Street Fighter X Tekken, but Namco is handling this one.
If Tekken X Street Fighter DOES go next-gen, I'm almost 100% sure that I'll be buying the console day-1, or well within a couple days of the release date o_o
I was kinda hoping that it'd release for PS3 (been looking forward to it for so long now), but I'd be content either way 🙂
I've been waiting for this one and I guess I'll have to wait even longer. But it is worth it, if it will be better.
It makes the most sense. It'll probably be the first major next-gen fighter, and thus will have nothing to compete with (unless Capcom's work on Street Fighter 5 is much further along than anyone suspects). It'll also probably be a good stop gap until they get a good handle on the hardware and bring out all the stops for Tekken 7.
Still, I'm still surprised that Tekken x SF hasn't been cancelled. In terms of work, Namco has a MUCH harder job to translate the SF characters into Tekken's engine than vice-versa. So much so that I say it's not worth it. There's just no way to make characters like Bison, Vega, Sagat, Rolento, Rufus, etc. work properly in Tekken.
