Bethesda recently reported that PlayStation 3 owners would receive the Dragonborn expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in "early 2013."
However, that prompted the obvious question from RPG fans: When will we get the first two pieces of downloadable content? Will we ever see Dawnguard and Hearthfire? Well, not for a while, at least, because Bethesda is currently focusing all their efforts on bringing Dragonborn to Sony's console. As they said at their company blog :
"On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn’t want folks to wait longer. Once it’s ready to go for everyone, we’ll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we’ll let you know."
As the Dragonborn expansion is already out for the Xbox 360, we're pretty sure we know the price when it arrives for PS3: $19.99. Will you be willing to jump on the Dawnguard and Hearthfire expansions whenever they arrive…? Game's gettin' kinda old.

What a great multiplatform engine these guys developed!!!
Fuuuuuuuuuck no! And I'm not even that mad about the PS3 screwup, but ya can't support that sort of business anyway. If I ever get a wild hair up my arse and want to play the DLC I'll wait for a cheap complete edition (unlikely though).
What I'd like is a patch that fixes the game before any of this comes out.
If they ever get it going you probably could find a complete edition cheap. I remember I got the Fallout 3 goty edition for $15 like 2 months after it released.
Not a chance. If you don't take the time to make it accessible to us in a timely manner, then don't expect me to pay for it. Bethesda really dropped the ball badly on this one.
too little too late.
I'd like to point out that IF Dragonborn gets released next month, at the same time as PC, then that technically means that they released it on schedule.
It is only Heartfire and Dawnguard that released late.
@Ben, your final comment "Games gettin' kinda old". Makes me kind of confused, because honestly, this is EXACTLY what DLC was created for, to continue to give people new content well after the release date. So not buying DLC for a game because it is 'too old' makes absolutely no sense. This is EXACTLY the reason why I WILL buy all the DLC for Skyrim, because I LOVED that game, and I have been waiting anxiously for an excuse to dive back into that world on a new adventure.
All those people that are refusing to buy this because they don't agree with what happened, get over it, the only thing you're doing is missing out on another awesome Skyrim adventure, because I'm sure Beth won't miss you, and come TESVI, you'll be back into it.
I really LOVE (being sarcastic here) it when people say "get over it" to others who are complaining about something they don't like… For far too many years Playstation owners have been getting over it when we get shorted because of what ever, companies need to learn to respect their target audiance or they are going to just screw themselves over. More people need to stand up and SHOW these companies that we aren't going to just "get over it" and want things to change. Oh, and "I'm sure Bethesda won't miss you" is a load of bull, every company out there is out to make money, if they start not making money they are going to start missing people a whole lot…
I'm w/ you Dill, the game has been out for TOO long and most everybody I know (me included) have moved onto other games, and I haven't even finished Skyrim… "Plenty of fish in the sea" works for more than just women…
I don't even play Skyrim and I will say Eff that noise. This is some BS.
They release Dawnguard and Hearthfire AFTER Dragonborn? That is just ASKING for crappy sales figures of the first two DLC.

Not really, people buy them for the extra content.
Yes, when the GOTY edition comes out. I sold my game when the Civil War questline was broken for good on my save.
I will not be paying a premium price for something that is this late.
I said in another comment, if Dragonborn gets released next month, then technically it is being released on schedule.
I'd also like to point out, that bugs occur in most, if not all games. Skyrim is a game which by nature, ANY bug could theoretically become a game breaking bug.
For example, collision detection not working properly could easily allow a Quest NPC to fall through the ground, never to appear again, breaking the main quest. It is a simple bug that affects many many games.
Honestly, it is your own fault for not having a previous save. I was lucky to only come across 1 bug in my time with Skyrim, which was, during the siege of whiterun, several fireballs from catapults were frozen when they contacted a building or object in the town, they just froze there and NEVER dissapeared. I fixed this by replaying the quest about 5 or so times until I could get to that point without the bug happening.
Yes, I understand that Akuma07. But when a company (Bethesda) sends out 360 copies of it's game to review, they lose any type of free pass with me.
Nice assumption on your part. I had about 20 saves thank you very much, and this was done because of my horrible experience with Fallout 3.
Plus, before you make the suggestion of me just going back, no thanks. I was over 100 hours into that game, and I do not play games like this again. I intentionally left the Civil War questline till the end so I would some form of narrative to follow after I beat the game. When I completed the main storyline, it was stuck on meet "them" at this location. Needless to say it didn't work. Period.
So, if you, in your Bethesda-defensive stance can't understand that I, as a consumer was left frustrated over that, then that is your problem.
Truth be told, Bethesda should be pleased that I plan on purchasing this game again since they already have received $60.00 from me.
I got Skyrim on PC, and haven't been too worried. I had been screwed by Bethesda on the PS3 front before with Fallout 3 and I have refused to let it happen since.
I honestly don't know what it is with them, but I can't see how anyone keeps giving them money for shoddy PS3 iterations of their games that work great on PC and probably work just fine on 360 (don't know personally). The minute they said to not worry about the PS3 port and that it would be just the same as the other versions of the game I knew that I wouldn't be getting on the PS3, they never ever deliver on it.
Cuz PC and 360 are gayyyyyyy
I suppose that is some people's opinions of the PC and 360. I for one haven't used my 360 in over a year, but my PC gets lots of workout time with all the indie devs releasing nice little games on it.
I'm just being annoying, don't listen to me I often forget my sarcasm tags.
"Game's gettin' kinda old."
Not really. There is so much to do in this game, it's insane. Anyone who has put over 100 hours into it an not scratched the surface can attest to that.
Everytime you turn the game on ita a fresh start because its so expansive. The dlc would also bring some freshness.
That aside, a goty edition or something is probably what I will wait for.
The game is getting old, especially w/ all the great games that have been released since Skyrim came out. I don't know a single person in my personal life that still plays Skyrim, even the 1 friend of mine that buys just 1 or 2 games a year has moved on. Expansions should be expected with in 9 months tops, not 13 months (today exactly by chance) or more down the road… There is a "window of opertunity" to getting expansions/add-ons out for games, Bethesda apparently forgets this from time to time…
It's pretty outrageous how buggy the PS3 version is, but frankly we don't hear enough about how messed up the 360 version is too. I have a relatively late model 360 that runs like a dream 99 percent of the time, and Skyrim has frozen up the entire system easily half a dozen times. So badly that I had to UNPLUG THE POWER CORD — even the power button stopped working. That is outrageous — and that's the "good" version? I have such a love/hate relationship with Skyrim it's unreal…
That's pretty bad, Skyrim never froze on me on PS3.
Wow, I've wanted Skyrim but have held out because of all this.
Always wanted to try this. Guess I'll wait until they release a Game of the Year Edition and buy it used >:) Take that Bethesda!
Whats so strange about the PS3 skyrim is that for the first couple of weeks it was the best version of the 3. All i heard from my friend at GS was how the 360 folk had gotten like 2 patches already fixing all the crashed, texture pop in, and other stuff. He's a 360 player by the way. Anyway, then the PC folk had issues with starting up the game. Nothing was wrong for the PS3 until the other versions problems became apparent.
Then all of a sudden, the ps3 had a game breaking bug. So when i updated i decided to make a high elf mage. It suddenly had tons of problems. It froze on me, textures looked weird in certain areas, and certain quests broke on me. Their 'patch' seemed to make the ps3 version the crappiest one. It was strange because in the first time of bethsedas games that the ps3 version was good. Maybe my hatred for skyrim comes from the fact my game game was working and running perfectly then people said their was a game breaking bug.
I like to reiterate on stuff i don't like to try and like it but everytime i do with skyrim i just get mad that they screwed my character that i thought was epic. He was a heavy armor, 2 hand, and had sneak. I would literally sneaka round in heavy armor and weapons and still get around unnoticed. Fallout 3 and new vegas (love new vegas by the way) have not crashed or froze on me once either. Im sure people have had other experiences but these are my own and i had ZERO issues with skyrim till they 'patched' it. Just had to say it, i think bethseda broke the ps3 version on purpose. Oblivion ran fine so why would skyrim be any different.
I can't understand peoples complaining anymore.
We are all so quick to judge all the immature gamers who have huge expectations of games, like those who went crazy over ME3.
They had reasons why the DLC's didn't work on PS3 at first, poor management, development team are stupid xbots, whatever, but NOW we ARE getting the DLC, you CANNOT say that Beth don't care about PS3, they have continued to support it since the release and have worked hard to get the DLC to us. So people should stop having a tantrum like a little 5 year old. Oh, you didn't get the DLC exactly when YOU wanted? Oh big effing deal. Cry babies.
I have seen barely ANY posts from people saying "Oh I am glad they finally fixed their issues, and are releasing the content, I was really looking forward to playing it!"
Right on.
Bethesda "cares" about Playstation owners? Yeah right, they have shown the exact opposite time and time again… Want some examples? When was the last time you've heard anyone playing the Add-ons besides Knights of the Nine for Oblivion on PS3? NEVER because Bethesda can't be bothered to bring it over to the PS3… How many times has micro&soft "bought" the rights for a "timed release" from Bethesda? I can go on and on and on on WHY Bethesda doesn't care about the PS3, the ONLY reason we are getting these add-ons/expansions is because enough people raised a big enough stink that Bethesda HAD to pay attention or face loosing supporters and our money… Akuma, stop trying to defend Bethesda, you're starting to look like a mindless fanboy.
meh the DLC is just a rip off when you can get it all free on PC and as far as ps3 version of skyrm goes it has way to many glitches and bugs i dont understand in todays age how they get away with not fixing the bugs
I want a ps3 exclusive to heal the wound you have created by not bringing me the DLC already bethesda!
The game is still entertaining to me, and I do look forward to the DLC…
But seriously Bethesda, you dropped the ball. I say release the DLC for $9.99 to appease the fact that we have been inconvenienced.
