Those who are familiar with the franchise know that Vergil has been playable before. So it's great to see him return.
Capcom has confirmed that next year's Devil May Cry reboot – DMC – will receive an expansion that will allow players to take control of Dante's twin brother, Vergil.
Dubbed "Vergil's Downfall," this new chapter tells the back-story of the wayward brother, and it will also toss in new enemies. Vergil will have access to his own set of unique moves, weapons and combos and as for length, the publisher claims this DLC will add "hours" of extra fun. We're not sure when it'll arrive but it'll be "sometime" after the launch of the anticipated game, which is slated to launch on January 15 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America. It'll cost $9 for all the intrigued action aficionados.
Man, I still remember having to face down Vergil as the final boss in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening . That sucker was tough . …didn't help that I had the original copy, where "Normal" difficulty was actually "Hard." Oh, that was fun. 'rolling eyes'
Related Game(s): DMC
To be included on the disc.
I smell something along the lines of DmC: Special Edition. I just Vergil has the same (if not, similar) move set to the Vergil from DMC3.
Actually, the press release makes note of the fact that it ISN'T on the disc. Either Capcom are learning or they're pulling our legs 😀
@lawless
I find it kind of funny that they have to mention that in the press release.
It actually been confirmed that it's not on the disc by one of Capcom-Unity Senior personnel
Hmmm that could mean I'm gonna wait for a complete edition. See what you people are doing with your early DLC announcements? Making me not get the game! … maybe.
well it is free with pre-order so why wait
Aww… I take solace in the fact that it is complementary to the game in the same way as Pigsy's Perfect 10 was.
Is pigsys DLC worth it?
Wrong guy to ask, but I've heard nothing but good about it.
@world it is it's one the better SP DLC adventures you'll play.
Difference between this and DMC3?
DMC3 had Vergil in it from the start, well, the special edition at least.
No the difference is that dmc3 did nt have the dlc option so they had to wait for a special edition to give it to us .
Well I am not comparing this to the DMC3 Special Edition, which was rubbish anyway as all you were doing was going through the same levels as Dante but with a different skin and move set. It's like the wasted opportunity of Snake Tales in MGS2: Substance, I would have liked to have seen what Pliskin was actually doing during the Tanker event, as I would have liked to have seen what Vergil was really doing during the events of DMC 3.
But as for news, it confirms one important thing for me. To wait. There will no doubt be a special edition 5 months in so there is no point buying it a release like with a lot of modern games. I swear this DLC nonsense must be damaging the first day sales.

Keeping my fingers crossed for any special edition, NT never does that.
Yes, but they have only released two games this gen. As they're now taking on a big franchise, I can see it happening. Especially as they have already announced DLC, that DLC for Enslaved was announced a while after the game was released.
Exactly and hardly nobody paid attention to that DLC cause it was announced so much later then the games release just think how many would have paid it more attention if they'd announced it b4 the games release.
