As a general rule, games based on TV shows or movies haven't been so hot. A few have bucked the trend but for the most part…
And that's why the latest PlayStation Blog post by Activision lead producer Andy Owen is just so encouraging. "Family Guy" fans shouldn't be cringing when the game comes out. Embrace it!
Heavy Iron Studios realized that if they created a sub-par game, the fans would hate it and as fans themselves, the developers would hate it, too. So in short, they knew that if they were to undertake such a project, they'd have to "do it right." Here's part of the rundown:
"We knew that if we were going to do this, we had to do it right. Everything from the script to the presentation to the way it will make you feel playing on your couch at home had to feel like Seth MacFarlane took a coding class and made it himself. If we wanted to create a genuine Family Guy experience, we needed to be faithful to the show’s spirit, and we needed the people who make Family Guy to be involved from the ground up."
Yep, so expect all the references you know and love, and expect a quality game that is actually fun to play. It's coming to the PlayStation 3 on November 30, and don't forget that the game supports local co-op play as well. By the way, there was an old Family Guy game that came out back in 2006, but it was an example of the mediocre production I'm hoping Heavy Iron Studios avoids.
Related Game(s): South Park: Back to the Multiverse
You called the game "South Park: Back to the Multiverse"
That's under "Related games"
It was in the picture description too.
*Head explodes*
The Warriors from Rockstar on the PS2 is the stand out movie-tie in for me, not only is it an excellent game. It also tells the story of a prequel then goes into the the story of the film. It was just really well made form start to finish.
what film?
The Warriors is both a film and a game.
The difference is that the movie came out in 1979 so they had a good 30 years or so development time 😉
Ah, never heard of it. Maybe I'll look it up.
I agree on that ultima. Both the film and the game were top notch. I am still hopeful we get a new one for the ps3 or just as a classic on psn.
eh, Family Guy is very funny late night punchy stuff but I don't really care to spend my gaming time on it.
Why is there a Family Guy game pic for a South Park-related game?
Somebody made a boo boo
Read the article.
Oh I see, the caption is just wrong. No biggie.
Well, these guys know licensed games. It's all they've done in their 13 years of games development. Activision just needs to put people who'll show respect to the source material on such games, rather than just handing them off to whatever third-rate developer is willing to do it for a paycheck, as seemed the case with Battleship, MiB and 007 Legends. Ah, what do I care, I don't much like Family Guy and it's Activision. For me, this game is destined to bring the suck.
I think Seth Macfarlane would also have to step up and work with the studio to produce anything that resembles the show.
sorry for being skeptical, but this game has had zero previews, the game was due out in 2 days time and only last week did they announce it was delayed, and were suppose to expect its going to buck the trend?
im sorry, but if this turns out half decent ill quit gaming for good!
