So what did "The Reload," "The Arrival," and "The Aftermath" signify? Something totally earth-shattering as some had hoped?
Eh, not really. After Sony teased the heck out of a big new announcement , it turns out that behind the secret door lurked… PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale .
Not that this isn't a really cool trailer, and not that we think the game will be disappointing. It's just that when it comes to such marketing, one tends to assume they're gonna reveal something we've never seen before. Then again, it is the only top-tier PS3 exclusive for the holiday season and therefore, Sony is right to push it. Furthermore, they need to push it, given the typically stiff competition from heavy-hitting titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Assassin's Creed III .

I just downloaded the beta this weekend, I really like it. Was a fan of the original Smash Bros and the one that came out on Wii so I don't mind the frantic pace. It's a little freaky how good some of these players are online already though. And the fact that 75% of the people I have played against play as Kratos might make me think some of the other characters are just as unbalanced. Hopefully some of it gets tweaked.
Glad Sony is attempting a legit marketing campaign (hopefully we see these ads on TV). After seeing the first video I was hoping for an inFamous 3 announcement. However after the next two teaser ads popped up it was pretty clear it was leading up to something All-Stars related. Cool commerical nonetheless. I'm glad that they are using their biggest franchises (God of War, Uncharted, LBP, inFamous) to headline the action.
It is pretty balanced actually. Most of the people from the beta were from the older bets as well. Kratos is the most user friendly character so everyone uses him. I use Kratos, sweet tooth, Parappa, and radec. My average with all of them is 18. It is pretty much about timing and combos. I am really enjoying but I hope they fix their servers before the game releases. Something closer to how capcom has it for third strike. Almost perfect.
It could be that I'm still a stupid n00b. I've had success with Kratos, Sweet Tooth and Parappa. I absolutely sucked as Radec and Sly. And yea, Kratos controls very similar to the GoW games so I'm sure he is def the most user friendly.
You'll become a pro in no time :). But yea I've gone into some with 3 Kratos and me as Parappa. I know I'll be using jak and raiden. They were both fun and extremely accessible when I used them during one of the convention events.
It was pretty cool I will admit. But I was kind of hoping for some sort of big reveal of a new game or something.
Still I'm glad they are marketing this game, it seems like a lot of people really enjoy it.
Has anyone in the beta used Raiden to carve up those cardboard sneak boxes yet???
I'm wondering what surprises(or dangers) are inside or linked to them.
Raiden isn't one of the playables in the Beta. Just the original 6 that were revealed (Kratos, Fat Princess, Radec, Sweet Tooth, Sly, PaRapper)

I was hoping for a new, unannounced game but the trailer is pretty neat though.
Ok to be honest…I really haven't been following this game too much despite how amazing it sounds and all.
…I really feel it's more of personal kind of thing I have to play with my friends to really believe how amazing it is. But there's always one main question buzzing around in my head.
…is SOLID SNAKE GONNA BE IN THIS?! Because I haven't seen any like super super official announcement/video/quote/gameplay announcement about him when I just check the regular news on gaming and all. I remember there was a tweet by the casting director(?) about how David Hayter was working on it.
..but can anyone absolutely confirm that he's actually coming. Don't see how it can be PlayStation All Stars without Snake.
So far no. The final roster has been revealed and if he is in he might be dlc. He worked with them during the Michael ad. They all voiced their characters in the live action ad. So besides that, unless he is a minion somehow or just part of raiden's story even though it isn't mgs4 or mgs2 raiden. He is rising raiden and isn't related to the solid series.

That sounds really cool, but somehow I don't want to watch/play it because I don't want anything revealed about the game before I start playing.

Lets face it…even with Sackboy. Cole and drake are doomed.
the way the fight scene unfolded kinda reminded me of the opening cinematic from MK Deception. three fighters at odds with each other
(raiden, shang tsung, quan chi –> cole, sack boy, drake)
joining forces to combat a greater threat
(onaga –> kratos)
side note: lol i just noticed the way i listed the characters actually matches up quite well
raiden – cole
both have power over lightning
shang tsung – sack boy
both can change their appearance, and a variety of powers
quan chi – drake
this one isn the best, but if you think about it, quan chi stumbles upon onaga's tomb (somewhat of a lost treasure) and drake himself is a treasure hunter always looking for lost cities, riches,etc.
and even the onaga – kratos pairing works
onaga finds the kamidogu that grant him god like strength
kratos finds pandora's box, which helps give him the power to defeat ares
